Special Interest Groups
CFGS holds a number of informal meetings for members and visitors alike each month to discuss specific issues of interest on the topic of the group. In most cases We collect notes on the topics discussed during these meetings and publish them here on our website. A link to these notes (where available) is under each group below. In some cases the note are published as a PDF file but in other cases there are in an aritcle format. All are grouped by date of the meeting.
Genealogy Computer / DNA Interest Group
The group is dedicated to using a computer or other devices in genealogy. Topics discussed range from devices like computers, tablets, smartphone and the software that runs on the. In addition, we discuss new and useful genealogy websites and how to get the most out of them. Recently, and due to the increease interest in how to use DNA for genealogy research, we have added this a a sub-group. Notes generated from over 10 years of these meetings are posted here.
Family Tree Maker Special Interest Group
This is a group for users of the Family Tree Maker software and users of all levels of expertise are welcome. This is an open discussion where all are invited to participate. Note for this meeting are not yet available.
German Genealogy SIG
The German Genealogy SIG meets before our regular meeting on the 2nd Thursday each month. (These meetings are NOT be held during the summer months of June, July or August.) Meeting notes are not yet available.
Irish Special Interest Group
The Irish group meets on the Saturday of each month at 10 am and is led by Billy Morgan. Notes from this meeting will be posted here.
RootsMagic Genealogy Software Users Group
This is a group forRootsMagic software users of all levels of expertise. We hold an open discussion where all are invited to participate. There are not notes available from this meeting.
Regular Meeting Notes
Prior to 2013 note and handouts were kept for our Regular Thrusday night and sometimes our Daytime meetings were saved and they are available here. There are over 10 years of these notes. From 2014 on, these notes and handouts are available to our logged in members under our CFGS Community.
