General Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. September through May. There are no General Meetings during the summer months of June, July and August.
General meetings usually feature a short business meeting, immediately followed by a speaker covering topics of interest to genealogy and local history researchers. This is followed by a social break. Also on hand at the meetings are our local society's publications including numerous local cemetery books, indexes of library collections and much more. Visitors and guests always welcome. The meetings are open to the public. BE THERE EARLY at 7:00 p.m. for a mini-session, an informal place that precedes the General Meeting to bring your questions, successes or suggestions for others.

Although the Central Florida Genealogical Society currently holds meetings at an LDS church, it is in no way officially affiliated with the organization or mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The Daytime Meeting Series is held at 2:00 pm on the 4th Thursday of odd numbered months (Jan., Mar., May, Jul., Sep., and Nov.) excepot when that falls on Thanksgiving when is will be held on the 3rd Thursday. They feature a speaker covering topics of interest to genealogy and local history researchers and last one hour.
These meetings are normally held at the University Club of Winter Park is located at 841 Park Avenue North, Winter Park, FL 32789 (corner of Webster and Park Ave) but check the Calendar for changes. These meetings start at 2:00 pm and last about one hour. Location Map
We hold a number of informal meetings for members and visitors alike each month to discuss specific issues of interest on the topic of the group. In most cases you can bring your laptops and other devices as Wi-Fi is available.
These meetings are held in various locations and some even switch back and forth from one place to another every month. Please check the Calendar for the date and location of these meetings as these are subject to last minute changes. Meetings that fall on a holiday may be moved or canceled if changing the date is not practical. Note that the specific room we meet in at the Bumby Meeting house or the Seminole Co. Library may vary from month to month.
Genealogy Computer / DNA Interest Group
The group is dedicated to using a computer or other devices in genealogy and also how to use DNA for genealogy research. This is a discussion group with a presentation at the beginning and helping each other solve problems or discuss new topics. The time will be shared between computing and DNA. This group meets on the 1st Saturday of each month at 10 am. Notes generated from these meetings are posted here.
Family Tree Maker Special Interest Group
This is a group for users of the Family Tree Maker software and users of all levels of expertise are welcome. This is an open discussion where all are invited to participate. At the end of the group discussion there is a class for those just starting our with the Family Tree Maker software. Bring your laptops as Wi-Fi is available. The Family Tree Maker SIG meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10 am.
German Genealogy SIG
The German Genealogy SIG meets before our regular meeting on the 2nd Thursday each month.These meetings will be announced on our Events and in the News Flash box on our Home Page. You can also check our Calendar on the Home Page. These meetings will NOT be held during the summer months of June, July or August.
Irish Special Interest Group
The Irish group meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10 am. It is led by Billy Morgan. Notes from this meeting will be posted here.
RootsMagic Genealogy Software Users Group
This is a group forRootsMagic software users of all levels of expertise. We hold an open discussion where all are invited to participate. The RootsMagic group meeting at the West Oaks Library and Genealogy Center in Ocoee on the 1st Thursday of each month at 1:30 pm.
Meetings of the CFGS Board of Directors are held at 6:30 PM on the Tuesday that immediately follows our monthly (2nd Thursday) evening membership meeting (September through May). In June, July and August Board meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday. There is no Board meeting in December. Board meetings may be waived by the Society President. All members and guests are invited to attend. The meeting location is at the LDS Bumby Meeting House located at 4020 S.
